- UAMS was established in 1982 in Algiers.
- Recognized by the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa (SCSA) during the Ouagadougou session.
- Founding member of the AASC (Association of African Sports Confederations).
- Recognized member of FIMS.
- Current headquarters: Cairo (previously Algiers).
