Sports medicine is a branch of medical science concerned with providing medical care and treatment for athletes and individuals involved in physical activities. It focuses on applying advanced methods for diagnosing, treating, and preventing sports-related injuries and diseases while promoting overall physical health and performance. The field of sports medicine also plays a vital role in sports rehabilitation, helping athletes recover safely and effectively from injuries, regain strength, and return to their activities with confidence. In addition, it contributes to injury prevention through proper medical guidance, physical assessment, and health education.

1. History of UAMS

  • UAMS was established in 1982 in Algiers.
  • Recognized by the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa (SCSA) during the Ouagadougou session.
  • Founding member of the AASC (Association of African Sports Confederations).
  • Recognized member of FIMS.
  • Current headquarters: Cairo (previously Algiers).
